Introduction
Welcome to Dog Identifier, an application developed by Fenix Studio. Dog Identifier lets you take or upload a photo of a dog and instantly identifies its breed using artificial intelligence.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our app, how we use it, and your choices regarding that information. By using Dog Identifier, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information We Collect
Photos and Camera Access
To identify a dog's breed, the app requests access to your device camera and/or photo library. The photo you capture or select is securely transmitted to our server infrastructure (Google Cloud Functions) and then forwarded to the OpenAI API solely for the purpose of breed identification. We do not store your photos on our servers. Photos are processed ephemerally, meaning they are accessed and used only in memory for the time necessary to generate a breed result. They are not stored permanently and are not retained after the result is returned.
Usage and Analytics Data
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with the app. This may include:
- Device type, operating system version, and language settings
- In-app events (e.g., feature usage, screen views)
- Session duration and frequency of use
- Approximate geographic region (country/region level)
This data is collected in an aggregated or pseudonymous form and is not directly used by us to identify you personally.
Advertising Identifiers
We use Google AdMob to display advertisements within the app. AdMob may collect your device's Advertising ID and related device information to serve advertisements, measure ad performance, and support fraud prevention. Advertising identifiers and related data are processed by Google in accordance with Google’s privacy policies. You can reset or opt out of personalized advertising at any time through your device settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads on Android).
How We Use Your Information
- Dog breed identification: Your photo is securely transmitted through our server infrastructure and forwarded to the OpenAI API to analyze and return a breed result. This is the core function of the app.
- App improvement: Aggregated analytics data helps us understand which features are used most and where we can improve the user experience.
- Advertising: Ad networks use device identifiers to display ads. Revenue from ads allows us to offer the app for free.
We do not use your photos or personal data for any purpose other than those described above.
Third-Party Services
Dog Identifier relies on the following third-party services, each with its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them:
- OpenAI Used to analyze dog photos and return breed predictions. openai.com/privacy
- Google AdMob Used to display in-app advertisements. policies.google.com/privacy
- Firebase Analytics (Google) Used to collect aggregated or pseudonymous usage analytics. firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. User photos are transmitted to our server infrastructure and shared with OpenAI solely for the purpose of AI-based dog breed analysis. Analytics data (such as app interactions and device information) may be shared with Google Firebase to help us understand and improve app performance. Advertising identifiers and related device information may be shared with Google AdMob to display advertisements and support ad delivery and fraud prevention. Data is shared only with these service providers to the extent necessary to operate the features of the app. These providers process data in accordance with their own privacy policies and applicable data protection laws.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Fenix Studio, our users, or others.
Data Retention
Photos: Not stored by Fenix Studio. They are transmitted through our server infrastructure to OpenAI for real-time processing and are subject to OpenAI's data handling and retention policies.
Analytics data: Retained by Firebase/Google according to their default retention periods (typically 2 months for event-level data, up to 14 months for user-level data). You can request deletion through Google's account controls.
Data Deletion Requests
Dog Identifier does not create user accounts and does not store user photos or personal content on our servers. Photos are processed ephemerally for breed identification and are not retained. If you have concerns about data processed by third-party services (such as OpenAI, Google Firebase, or Google AdMob), please refer to their respective privacy policies for information about data deletion and user controls. If you have any questions about your data, you may contact us at tbng84@gmail.com.
Your Rights and Choices
- Camera/Photo permissions: You can revoke camera or photo library access at any time in your device's app permissions settings. Note that the app requires this permission to function.
- Personalized ads: Opt out via your device's advertising settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization).
- Analytics: Firebase Analytics data collection can be limited through your device's privacy controls.
Children's Privacy
Dog Identifier is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at tbng84@gmail.com and we will promptly delete it.
Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect information transmitted through our app. All communication with third-party APIs (OpenAI, Firebase, AdMob) occurs over encrypted HTTPS connections. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
